Lawn bowls is a sport almost anyone can enjoy, regardless of age, ability or gender. It is easy to learn and can be as relaxed or as competitive as
you want it to be. Most importantly, it is a welcoming way to build social connections within our club and the wider bowls community.
When you are first starting out, all you need is flat-soled shoes or bare feet, casual clothing and a willingness to give it a go. We will provide the bowls while you learn, and we can also arrange coaching to help you build confidence and improve your skills.
Some players are happy with social bowls, while others are drawn to pennant competition. Pennant is the competitive side of our club: players wear the club uniform and play against other clubs in a friendly but more structured format. If you decide to play pennant, you will need your own set of bowls, a club uniform and bowling shoes so you can proudly stand with the Vees.
Yes. If you wish to play bowls competitively, or socially on a regular basis, you will need to join a club.
Each game has a small green fee. Your annual membership fee depends on the level of bowls you choose to play.
As a full member, you will be given a key to the greens area and bowls shed so you can practise when a rink is available. Use of the greens may be restricted when a competition is in progress or when the green is closed for maintenance. Full members also have access to club coaches, the opportunity to play Pennant Bowls, the chance to join Social Bowls events, and reciprocal rights at most other bowls clubs in Australia.
DescriAs a member, you may bring friends along to play bowls, provided rinks are available at the time.
Yes. The Club warmly welcomes volunteers, and we could not function without our members’ support. Whether you are a keen gardener, handy with repairs, or enjoy helping to organise functions, your contribution would be greatly appreciated
Yes. Families are very welcome at the Club, and bowls can be a great way for children to have fun, learn new skills and feel part of the community. We offer junior bowls membership for under-18s for just $0.00 per year. Junior members can enjoy social bowls and, if they are keen, can also take part in competitive bowls, including pennant and club championships. As their interest grows, they may also have opportunities to join the region’s junior bowls squad and participate in other events across Victoria.
Children are also welcome to join barefoot bowls groups, making it an easy option for families, parties or casual get-togethers. The cost is $0.00 for up to two hours, and children under ? play free. Please let us know when you book so we can have smaller bowls ready for younger players.
To help keep everyone safe and comfortable, children must be appropriately supervised at all times.
